Verbal Branding: Introduction / Case Studies
OBJETS D'ART JEWELLERY, is the inspiration of Sheila Pickles, a creative, London-based entrepreneur with a long career in the arts. She began her career working for Franco Zeffirelli in the worlds of theatre, film and opera. At Zeffirelli's suggestion, she took over the business of the historic London perfume house, Penhaligon's. After bringing Penhaligon’s to new and vibrant life, she began designing original luxury gifts and scented anthologies of verse and prose, including the international bestseller, The Language of Flowers.
Having worked with Sheila on previous verbal identity projects, she approached me to name her newest enterprise—an online jewellery company. A particular challenge was to create a name that encompassed visual art, literature, and nature as sources of design inspiration. The chosen name, Objets d’Art Jewellery, came after several weeks of strategic discussion and name generation.
Midori & Friends, a music education organization, needed a collateral piece to double as a program report and capabilities booklet. As editorial director, copywriter, and project manager, I worked closely with Art Director, Irasema Rivera, creating a clear and compelling piece that addressed both needs.
